Katie Sutton - Cahaba River Society

Katie Sutton joined the Stewardship Team in June 2021. She graduated from Sewanee: the University of the South in 2018 with a degree in Ecology and a minor in Geology. She is from Chattanooga, Tennessee where she grew up with a love for exploring the outdoors, especially the creeks, rivers, and caves near her home.ย

She has worked in outdoor education since graduating, which has taken her as far as Talkeetna, Alaska, where she took high schoolers backpacking. She also hiked 1400 miles of the Appalachian Trail in 2019. Most recently, she worked leading school groups at the Mcdowell Environmental Center and Farm School in Nauvoo, Alabama. She currently also works at Blue Rooster Flower Farms and you can regularly find her at farmerโ€™s market booths around town, as well as in and around the river.

She has a passion for working with kids and animals in the outdoors, and spends her free time painting, learning to play the banjo, hiking, paddling, biking, and hanging out with her dog, Grandpaw.
