Atty Joi Travis - Cahaba River Society


Photo of Joi Travis, Cahaba River Society Board MemberJoi Travis is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alabama State University in Political Science, and completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Policy from Auburn University in Montgomery, AL. In 2016, Joi received a Juris Doctor Degree from Birmingham School of Law and became licensed to practice law in Alabama. Travis Law, LLC, a general practice firm, was launched in 2017 serving clients in Jefferson, Montgomery, and Shelby counties.

Joi serves as 1st Vice President of the Metro Birmingham NAACP, President for the Birmingham School of Law Foundation, Chairperson for The Alabama Sierra Club, and Board Member for the Sloss Furnace Foundation Board. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Joi is a lifelong and passionate public servant who was the top recipient of the King Spirit Award presented by the Montgomery Advertiser Newspaper at the age of 22. This award was presented to Joi for her unrelenting organizing work and dedication to communities and the empowerment of all mankind.

Over her career, Joi has volunteered with numerous organizations such as: Rock The Vote, The Girl Scouts of America, Upward Bound, The National Pan-Hellenic Council, The League of Women Voters, Future Business Leaders of America, The Urban League, Black Voters Matter, The Congressional Black Caucus, and many other organizations that fight for equity and inclusion.
