Statement of Solidarity Against Racism - Cahaba River Society

We are listening to and sharing in the pain, anger, frustration, hope, and calls for urgent action on racial justice and systemic reform that are being expressed in public protests here and nationwide.

We must address the damage caused by the systemic racism that has been laid bare by inequitable health and income impacts, and by the unjust, heart-breaking deaths of George Floyd and so many people of color, recently and going back into our nation’s history.

We stand with those who seek needed justice and reform, and we ask ourselves what more we can do to dismantle racism and rebuild a more equitable future for Birmingham and central Alabama.

Cahaba River Society believes that all people have a human right to clean, healthy water, to the uplifting benefits of education, and to the healing power of nature. We commit to this vision as central to our mission. Please click here for more on our equity, diversity and inclusion work.
