The Cahaba River Society staff and board honor our friend, mentor and leader Richard “Dick” Pigford. Dick was a transformational Cahaba River Society Board Member for seven years, 2006 – 2012, and Board President in 2010-2011. He guided Cahaba River Society on our collaborative path and opened doors for us with people in development, business, and faith.

Dick passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019. While this is a tremendous loss, we are grateful for the incredible legacy that he leaves in his uplifting impact on the fabric of the Birmingham community and in the natural and built environment. So many lives where touched and bettered by his talents and wisdom. We know he is at peace on his journey, and we hold his family in our hearts.

We are forever grateful to have received the grace of Dick’s gentle, joyous and supportive leadership and love for the Cahaba.
