A Heartfelt Thank You to Katie Shaddix - Cahaba River Society

After dedicating herself to Cahaba River Society for 7 years, our talented Office/Communications Manager, Katie Shaddix, is moving to a great job with the communications team at United Way. She has our congratulations and gratitude in this bittersweet moment, as Katie has been a stellar member of our team!

We can’t list here all the many ways Katie has elevated CRS and our work for the River. She built our communications and public education program from the ground up and has hugely contributed to the strong community support and widespread recognition the Cahaba enjoys today. She has run everything for the office, our staff, our board, and our many constituents with grace and kindness. Katie has been an insightful and steadfast co-leader of our equity, diversity, and inclusion work. We kept growing and serving our community throughout the pandemic due to her many video creations and skills for working together remotely.

Additional Staff Updates

With the retirement last summer of long-time Administrative Director Tricia Sheets, we have restructured our administrative and communications functions. Nicole Junkin has stepped up from part-time CLEAN field educator to working for CRS full-time as our temporary Administrative Coordinator as we go through the hiring process for the permanent position. Thank you, Nicole! She is now the first person you will reach when contacting CRS, and her email is [email protected].

CRS will also soon be hiring a Communications Director, so watch for that opportunity!
