Ashleigh Jones

Ashleigh Jones is a junior journalism and mass communication major with a biology minor at Samford University. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, she grew up near the Blue Ridge Mountains. Innately curious, she loves learning and about the biodiversity in animals and plants and sharing that through writing.

She currently plans to become a science writer following her graduation in May 2024. She is a contributing writer for Samford’s student newspaper, The Samford Crimson, and is a student member of the National Association of Science Writers.

Ashleigh did not realize how ecologically diverse Alabama was until coming to the state. As an intern, she is excited to help spread awareness of Alabama’s unique watershed ecosystems and the Cahaba River through writing for the Cahaba River Society.
