2024 Impact Report - Cahaba River Society
In 2024, thousands of individuals fell in love with the river through environmental education, volunteering, and recreation. We reached an agreement ending a 1996 consent decree requiring the rehabilitation of Jefferson Countyβs sewer system. We assumed responsibility for monitoring thousands of acres of protected Birmingham Water Works Board land around the drinking water source for more than one million Alabamians.
